Pyre Magic

About

Name and Meaning

The word "pyre" may draw up emotions because it's a combustible heap for funeral rites. Death and transformation is natural and we cannot shy away from it, although we may try to. Interestingly, pyre is rooted in the ancient Greek word "pur" for "fire" and Pur is one of the best Cocteau Twins' songs from Four Calendar Cafe.

Origins to Now

I started making jewerly on a whim in late summer of 2023. I always enterwined love and magic so naturally I started making earrings so I could gift them. Frustrated with the lack of found objects, vintage, or stones in jewelry with uncreative designs: I kind of assumed I could do it by teaching myself. As a disabled person, crafting took a while but failure was a part of the alchemical process.

Balance is trying to create something new with something old or forgotten. This adds to my planet-concious approach as I try to source charms and packaging second-hand or vintage. I soon made more jewelry than I could gift and realized I could host my creations at a local oddity shop. It was fuel to the fire in my heart to continue my efforts to learn and grow.

More summers passed and I took the leap to craft jewelry with stone then teeth. I always had a love for chain mail so it was fate I would pick up the skill to weave metal. Chain mail is my main focus now. This has been a dream of mine for many years as I'm excited to craft jewelry with more magic and armor than before.

Thanks to You

A big thank you to: all my loved ones who believed in me, the people who have purchased or browsed my creations at the oddity shop, each person who has asked me about a custom idea, and you for reading this. I appreciate you all for caring about my work and helping me dream.
